The musicians and the business community of Novosibirsk raised five million rubles in support of the Conservatory

A Charity Gala Concert “Dedication to the Conservatory” took place at the Arnold Kats State Concert Hall in Novosibirsk. The concert was organized to support Mikhail Glinka State Conservatory. The project was initiated by a world-famous violinist, Chairman of the Conservatory’s Board of Trustees Mikhail Simonyan. The funds raised from ticket sales and donations by Novosibirsk business community amounted to 5 million rubles.

The idea of the concert was proposed by a Novosibirsk Conservatory graduate, violinist, conductor and the President of Open Sea Foundation for Cultural and Educational Programs, Mikhail Simonyan. The charity concert was organized by the Open Sea Foundation for Cultural and Educational Programs and Novosibirsk State Philharmonic with support by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE) and the Governor of Novosibirsk Oblast.

On this night, Novosibirsk Academic Symphony Orchestra was accompanied on the stage by world-famous musicians, such as Vienna State Opera and Metropolitan Opera soloist, Ukrainian tenor Dmytro Popov, singer Yulia Novikova, Singapore conductor Darrell Ang and violinist Mikhail Simonyan. The soloists and the orchestra performed musical masterpieces written by Tchaikovsky, Verdi, Bizet, Puccini, Gounod and other composers.

The invited musicians waived their royalties for the concert. All funds raised will be used to support educational activities of Mikhail Glinka State Conservatory in Novosibirsk: purchasing musical instruments and textbooks, organizing internships, science contests and festivals for students, and conducting field concert events.
