The International Art-festival “Open sea” took place for the first time in Riccione, Italy in September 24–28, 2014. The festival was part of the project The Year of Mutual Tourism between Italy and Russia in 2013–2014, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Italian Embassy in Moscow and the authorities of Riccione.
On the program there were two quartets, Frauchi Guitar Quartet and Furioso Quartet; The Four Seasons by Giedrius Mackevičius, the founder of the Plastic Drama Theater, which had been restored more than 30 years later by his student Tatyana Borisova; the exhibition of Italian Masterpieces of XVI–XVIII centuries; and the classical music concert featuring the Symphonic Orchestra of the Conservatorio Statale di Musica "Gioachino Rossini", directed by Daniele Rossi; Mikhail Simonyan (violin), Sergei Poltavsky (viola), Leonid Bakhtalin (baritone), Gianluca Pasolini (tenor), Rossana Cardia (soprano); and the Frauchi Guitar Quartet, that performed the Italian Overture with the orchestra. This musical piece had been written for the Festival by the Russian composer Valery Biktashev.
The festival was a huge success among the guests of the event and the residents of Riccione and nearby towns. Extensive and diverse cultural program plus the outstanding professionalism could not leave anyone untouched. The festival was covered by several Italian and Russian media outlets.
