Mikhail Zoshchenko is primarily known to readers by his short stories, while his dramaturgic work was left behind by viewers and directors alike. Vladimir Michelson turned to Zoshchenko’s little-known play “Nice to Meet You!”, written shortly after the Great Patriotic War. The play is full of joy, celebration and happiness of the Great Victory. Its characters are army officers who returned from war and are being treated at a health resort, and the situations they find themselves in continue the vaudeville traditions, with its landmark lightness, witticism and a bit of light-hearted irony. “Nice to Meet You!” is a play about post-war life, love and friendship.
The performance opened on October 16.
